Owing to the generosity of a local business and 2 residents the Darvel Brownies have successfully reached their £120 target for Dog Fouling Stations to be placed in streets where the need is greatest.
The Brownies will now be able to purchase dog fouling containers that can be attached with East Ayrshire Council’s permission to lamp posts on 6 streets identified as being problematic with dog fouling.
They will stock the containers with bags as part of their ongoing voluntary community service. In doing this the Brownies are tackling what is a chronic problem and will help the community address an ongoing issue for many people in Darvel.
The Darvel Lottery is pleased to have helped to bring attention to the Brownies proposal through the public voting process.
The Darvel Magazine hopes that the example set by the Brownies changes the behaviour of selfish and irresponsible dog owners who, we are glad to report, are rapidly diminishing in number owing to the focus on this issue by our community.
Well done the Brownies!
