The Darvel & District Community Council is pleased to announce it intention to set up a new charity dedicated to the development and regeneration of Darvel, Priestland and the surrounding area. Called the Darvel & Area Regeneration Trust (DART) it will be a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO pronounced SKEEO).

A draft constitution has been developed and will soon be submitted to the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) for approval. We anticipate a formal launch of DART around mid-July.

The charitable purposes of DART are…

Membership of DART will be open to anyone resident in the Darvel, Priestland and the surrounding area but will be limited to a specific number of members yet to be determined. Members will elect a management board including as a minimum a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.

Initially DART will be focused on the development of the ‘Garden & Market’ concept and will develop its project portfolio over time. Future projects may include additional asset transfers, garden developments, legacy services and improving the living conditions of our community.

DART will work in coordination and cooperation with other voluntary groups (e.g. Sports Darvel, DIG), the Community Council, East Ayrshire Council and any other group dedicated to advancement of the Darvel town, community and environment.
